WRITING FOR REAL

The main reason that the late Michael Crichton's books and films were so successful, is because the science was so well researched, and thus, the films made from his stories were plausible. The same is true for the late Arthur Hailey. All his films had great stories behind them because Hailey spent a year or longer researching of commercial aviation (AIRPORT), the auto industry (WHEELS), banking (THE MONEYCHANGERS), etc.

When writing your screenplay, the more you know about any subject the more plausible your story is likely to be.

Plausibility is only one slant of story telling but if we look at the Sci-Fi genre as an example, the Star Wars stories are completely implausible and yet, no one cares. They are great entertainment; old fashioned swashbuckling pirate and princess stories, dressed up in a new time and location. Instaead of galleons with cannons, we have tie-fighters with lasers. STAR WARS never mention Earth and when we are asked to suspend all disbelief, we gladly do do.

My Comic Book Creator and Comic Life Review

These apps are fun, and for this comic book geek, a way to try my hand at even professional comic book creation By Heath McKnight

Planetwide Media's My Comic Book Creator, including Comic Book Creator 2 and Marvel Heroes Comic Book Creator (Windows only, www.myplanetwide.com), along with Plasq's Comic Life 1.4 (Mac and Windows, www.plasq.com), are making it easier for users to create their own comic books. The applications are a lot of fun, and for this comic book geek, a way to try my hand at even professional comic book creation.

Comic Life 1.4 is a software application for families or individuals looking to have fun with their photographs. You can easily import some photos into the application, or use iSight or any other web camera, then it's time to make some comic books.

With pro-style templates/panels, getting the layouts right is a cinch. There are also some filters to tweak the photos to make them look more comic book-like. Not to mention a pretty cool titler to create awesome comic book-style fonts and lettering. Then email it out, upload it to your website (easy access to Apple's MobileMe), and more.
